Everest Three High Passes Trek
The Everest Three High Passes Trek is one of the most challenging and ultimate treks of the Everest region. This trek traverses the entire Everest region and you will be rewarded with unsurpassed views of Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Combine this with experiencing the vibrant culture and traditions of the Sherpa people and you will have the ultimate trek.
This is the most adventurous trek in the Khumbu region, the homeland of the Sherpa. The trek involves a circular route, trekking over three passes, all over 5000m high, Renjo La Pass, Chola Pass, and Kongma La Pass. Emerging over the passes you will be rewarded each time with new stunning views of the mountains, magnificent landscapes of fabulous peaks, tapering ridges, glacial lakes, and colorful villages. This trek isn’t for the novice, it is for those who are fit and have experience trekking in the high altitude before in Nepal.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)
Welcome to the Land of Mountain! Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, our representative waiting for holding Popular Treks signboard with your name on it will transfer to the hotel. You may take rest throughout the day or you can stroll around the city if you feel energetic after your flight. We will give you a short brief about our trip in the evening. Overnight in the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Trek preparation
Today is the day you can do preparation for your Everest Base Camp trek including shopping some lacking equipment, exchange extra money, and another necessary arrangement for the trek. By the end of the day, you should be ready for your Everest base camp trek with your bag packed. Overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,610m) (3 hours)
From Kathmandu to Lukla by flight, it takes 40 minutes and walks to Phakding 3 hours. Your first footstep starts from Lukla. After passing PasangLhamu Memorial Gate you will see white chorten commemorating those who died in Yeti Airlines crash in 2008. The beautiful scenery and mani walls will attract your attention. Have your camera ready to capture the beautiful countryside on the way to Phakding. Overnight in the teahouse at Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) (5/6 hours)
The trail follows the Dudh Koshi valley north. After a short distance, there is a pretty waterfall which attracts many photographers. There are excellent views along the trail and you will get glimpses of Thamserku Mountain. At the village called Monjo, you will enter Sagarmatha National Park which was established in 1976. Finally, there is tough ascend to reach in Namche bazaar. Overnight in the teahouse at Namche bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
Namche bazaar is the homeland of Sherpa people. It is a large village and because of the altitude, it is advisable to have a rest day here. On your rest day, you can ascend the zigzag path to Everest View Hotel, where you may enjoy a cup of tea and the panoramic views of mountains including Mt. Everest. We will explore you KhumjungGompa, School and Khunde Hospital, built by Sir Edmund Hillary in Khumjung. If you like you can hike to School and Khumjung Gompa where you can see Yeti skull. After enjoying the visit of Khunde and Khumjung villages we will head back to Namche. Overnight in the tea house at Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Thame (3,800m) 4/5 hours
In the morning having breakfast whilst viewing the mountains from Dining is so awesome. Namche Bazaar is built in a natural amphitheater and is surrounded by mountains. From here the trail leads us to the old village of Thamo which is reached after walking through a pine forest. This is a small settlement of Sherpa people and we will be there around lunchtime. After having lunch and rest we continue to climb to the village of Thame, with time to explore the village. Overnight in the tea house at Thame.

Day 07: Trek from Thame to Lung den (4,600m) 4/5 hours
The trek starts easy walks to Marlung through the Bhote Koshi River where you can have a short break. The trail ascends to Lung den through the dry valley. It is an interesting walking with enjoying the views of the snow-peaked mountains and the valley. We will acclimatize and stay overnight. Overnight in the tea house at Lung den.

Day 08: Trek from Lung den to Gokyo (4,800m) via Renjo La Pass (5,464m) 7/8 hours
The trail leads uphill for 1.5 hours and initially, the walking is easy. The final ascent to the top of the Renjo La is a hard climb but you will be rewarded with an awesome view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Nuptse and the surrounding peaks. You will also see Gokyo Lake which breathtaking views from the pass. From the top of the Renjo La, the trail drops down to the Third Lake (Gokyo Lake) and finally to the lodge in Gokyo village. Take time for a rest at the lodge and if you have the energy, take a short climb to the ridge from where you can explore the Glacier. Overnight in the tea house at Gokyo.

Day 09: Morning hike to Gokyo Ri (5,340m) and afternoon trek to Tagnak (4,700m) 4/5 hours
An early start this morning for the ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,360m) a small peak above the village. The path crosses the stream the at the north end and climbs 3 to 4 hours to reach the top. As we climb the views become more fantastic. The view of Gokyo village on the edge the of the third lake overlooked by Mt. Cholatse and the broad Ngozumpo Glacier is magnificent. From the summit we can see the highest peaks in the Nepal, Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Makalu and other small peaks like Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Tabuche, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Changtse and Mt. Pumori. After spending some time on Gokyo Ri we return to Gokyo village for lunch. In the afternoon we retrace our steps through Ngozumpo glacier to the mountain on the other side, and traverse along the edge of that mountain and then meander into Thagnak. Overnight the in the tea house at Tagnak.

Day 10: Trek from Tagnak to Cho La (5,368m) to Dzongla (4,830m)(7/8 hours)
An early start for the very long day across the Cho La (5,368m). Today is going to be one of the toughest days of the trip. We climb up from Tagnak for about 90 minutes to a col and ahead we can see Cho La in the distance. The Cho La pass isn’t difficult, but it is steep and involves a glacier traverse on the eastern side. We need to be careful as the trail is vertical and the rocks glazed by ice may cause trouble by making the trail slippery. The last two hours are very steep and rocky and involve some scrambling as we zigzag up to the top. The upper part of the route can be covered in snow and ice, particularly after November and in spring. (Mini crampons may be useful here) We reach the glaciated top, from where there are excellent views including an unusual aspect of Ama Dablam. We need to take care of the descent as it’s steep and involves the crossing of a small glacier which is fairly straightforward. After a scramble down onto the glacier, we follow a trail across the snow and down a rocky gully to the pasture below Dzongla. Overnight in the tea house at Dzongla.

Day 11: Trek from Dzongla to Lobuche (4,928m)(2/3hours)
Today is very short trek so we have a lot of time to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. We begin with a continuation of our descent through a grassy trail while enjoying the view of Lobuche peak. The trail curves through the wide river bed before reaching Lobuche. We spend the night in Lobuche. The sunset on Mt. Nuptse from the ridge across from the lodge isn’t to be missed. Overnight in the teahouse at Lobuche.

Day 12: Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,140m)(2/3 hours), Hike to Everest Base Camp(2.5 hours)
Today is our special day to reach our main destination. After breakfast, we kick off to Gorak Shep through lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. We can catch the first glimpses of Kala Patthar and when we reach in Gorak Shep we find ourselves surrounded by snow-capped mountains. We will have our lunch in the tea house and leave our luggage behind while we take the meandering trail along the glacial path over rough terrain to Everest Base Camp. You are rewarded with incredible melt patterns and rounded ice towers on the glacier itself. However, we won’t see the summit of Everest from Everest Base Camp. We return to Gorak Shep for overnight to stay.

Day 13: Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,550m) to Lobuche (2 hours)
We rise early in the climb to the top of Kala Patthar at 5550m which is the highlight of the trek and considered the best viewpoint for an amazing close-up view of Everest. As we hike up to Kala Patthar, we need to take short breaks for 2 reasons – one to avoid altitude sickness and two, to capture beautiful photos. We can view other mountains as well, like Lhotse, Changtse, Pumori, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. After capturing all of these mountains in your camera we head back to the tea house for breakfast and taking rest then start our descent to Lobuche where we stay overnight.

Day 14: Trek from Lobuche to Chhukung (4,700m) via Kongma La Pass (5,460m) 9/10 hours
Today is the long hard day. We have to carry plenty of water and snacks in our rucksack. On the way, there is no lodge where we can buy anything, which is why we need to take snacks and water with us. We will start our trek through Khumbu glacier towards east. After crossing the glacier and river, the trail leads us to the pass which is the highest pass of this trip. Before reaching the top we will see cairn wrapped in prayer flags which marks the top of the pass. The views from the Kongma La are really spectacular especially towards Makalu in the east and everything appears to be awesome from here. The trail descends and after a while, there are great views of Island Peak valley and jagged ridge of Amphu Lapcha. Finally, we arrive in our teahouse at Chhukung.

Day 15: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche
Today is an easy day which is downhill through the valley. The trail continues down to the Dingboche and after the walking valley gets change through a few Sherpa villages. After Pangboche village the trail drops down to the river and cross a bridge. After that the trail leads up to the Tengboche where the oldest Monastery in the area is situated on the top of the hill. It is possible to visit the Monastery in the evening and watch the Buddhist chanting ceremony. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 16: Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazzar (3,440m) 4 hours
From Tengboche, following our breakfast, we will trek to Namche Bazzar. Namche Bazzar is the astoundingly beautiful place, set in a natural amphitheater. On the way, we can yet take a break to visit the typal villages of Khumjung and Khunde. Overnight stay in the teahouse at Namche Bazzar.

Day 17: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Lukla (2,850m) 6/7 hours
The trek continues further downhill and we reach Lukla after almost seven hours of trekking. We will be staying in Lukla for the rest of day and ready ourselves to board a flight back to Kathmandu the next day from Lukla. Overnight in the teahouse at Lukla.

Day 18: Lukla to Kathmandu (1,350m) by Air and transfer to hotel.
Early in the morning, we take a flight back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you deserve a good rest. You may spend your time shopping around for Himalayan souvenirs for your friends and family. Overnight in hotel at Kathmandu.

Day 19: Free day with a sightseeing tour.
A reserve or spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay or cancellation due to bad weather which occurs sometimes, as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable. If all goes well enjoy the extra day with a tour around Kathmandu. There is plenty to see.
It is the usual practice for clients to invite their guides/porters to share a farewell dinner and exchange a Khata (ceremonial scarf). If you have been happy with the service provided by the guide a tip is given. Relive your experiences of the trek around the dinner table and enjoy your last night in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final departure
Our Everest 3 Passes Trek ends today with your departure. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, our representative will pick you up from the hotel to drop you to the international airport for your flight to onward destination. You are rewarded with incredible melt patterns and rounded ice towers on the glacier itself. However, we won’t see the summit of Everest from Everest Base Camp. We return to Gorak Shep for overnight to stay.

Day 13: Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,550m) to Lobuche (2 hours)
We rise early in the climb to the top of Kala Patthar at 5550m which is the highlight of the trek and considered the best viewpoint for an amazing close-up view of Everest. As we hike up to Kala Patthar, we need to take short breaks for 2 reasons – one to avoid altitude sickness and two, to capture beautiful photos. We can view other mountains as well, like Lhotse, Changtse, Pumori, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. After capturing all of these mountains in your camera we head back to the tea house for breakfast and taking rest then start our descent to Lobuche where we stay overnight.

Day 14: Trek from Lobuche to Chhukung (4,700m) via Kongma La Pass (5,460m) 9/10 hours
Today is the long hard day. We have to carry plenty of water and snacks in our rucksack. On the way, there is no lodge where we can buy anything, which is why we need to take snacks and water with us. We will start our trek through Khumbu glacier towards east. After crossing the glacier and river, the trail leads us to the pass which is the highest pass of this trip. Before reaching the top we will see cairn wrapped in prayer flags which marks the top of the pass. The views from the Kongma La are really spectacular especially towards Makalu in the east and everything appears to be awesome from here. The trail descends and after a while, there are great views of Island Peak valley and jagged ridge of Amphu Lapcha. Finally, we arrive in our teahouse at Chhukung.

Day 15: Trek from Chhukung to Tengboche
Today is an easy day which is downhill through the valley. The trail continues down to the Dingboche and after the walking valley gets change through a few Sherpa villages. After Pangboche village the trail drops down to the river and cross a bridge. After that the trail leads up to the Tengboche where the oldest Monastery in the area is situated on the top of the hill. It is possible to visit the Monastery in the evening and watch the Buddhist chanting ceremony. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 16: Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazzar (3,440m) 4 hours
From Tengboche, following our breakfast, we will trek to Namche Bazzar. Namche Bazzar is the astoundingly beautiful place, set in a natural amphitheater. On the way, we can yet take a break to visit the typal villages of Khumjung and Khunde. Overnight stay in the teahouse at Namche Bazzar.

Day 17: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Lukla (2,850m) 6/7 hours
The trek continues further downhill and we reach Lukla after almost seven hours of trekking. We will be staying in Lukla for the rest of day and ready ourselves to board a flight back to Kathmandu the next day from Lukla. Overnight in the teahouse at Lukla.

Day 18: Lukla to Kathmandu (1,350m) by Air and transfer to hotel.
Early in the morning, we take a flight back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you deserve a good rest. You may spend your time shopping around for Himalayan souvenirs for your friends and family. Overnight in hotel at Kathmandu.

Day 19: Free day with a sightseeing tour.
A reserve or spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay or cancellation due to bad weather which occurs sometimes, as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable. If all goes well enjoy the extra day with a tour around Kathmandu. There is plenty to see.
It is the usual practice for clients to invite their guides/porters to share a farewell dinner and exchange a Khata (ceremonial scarf). If you have been happy with the service provided by the guide a tip is given. Relive your experiences of the trek around the dinner table and enjoy your last night in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final departure
Our Everest 3 Passes Trek ends today with your departure. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, our representative will pick you up from the hotel to drop you to the international airport for your flight to onward destination.
