Langtang Valley Trek
Langtang valley trek is the third most popular trekking region after Everest and Annapurna. It is located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu, close to the border of Tibet. The valley is dominated by Langtang Lirung, the highest peak in the area. This is a superb introduction to trekking in Nepal among some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country. The east-west running valley is the site of some spectacular alpine scenery as well as being a great place to meet unique people. A minimum of one week is required but trekkers are well advised to add a few extra days for acclimatization and for side trips in the valley. The trail follows the Bhote Koshi river through ethnic Tamang village, lush green forests and the widespread Kyangjin valley surrounded by snowy peaks from all four sides takes you up to Kyangjin where you get an opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri and views are outstanding.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)
Welcome to the Land of Mountain! Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, our representative waiting for holding Popular Treks signboard with your name on it will transfer to the hotel. You may take rest throughout the day or you can stroll around the city if you feel energetic after your flight. We will give you a short brief about our trip in the evening. Overnight in the hotel in Kathmandu.
WELCOME DINNER
Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation
In the morning we will go for sightseeing World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu valley including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bodhnath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. After the sightseeing tour, you can do any last minute shopping in preparation for your Langtang trek including shopping for any clothes or equipment you need, exchange extra money for the trek, or any other necessary arrangements you may need to do. Remember you will need Nepalese rupees on the trek, in case you want to buy anything not included in the trekking price. By the end of the day, you should be ready for your Khopra Ridge trek with your bag packed. Overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi (1,550m) 7/8 hours
Early in the morning, we drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi which takes about 7/8 hours. We are heading north side out of Kathmandu valley through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Bensi past Dhunche. You will see the nice scenery of white snowcapped mountains like Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal. On the way, you will notice that the road is still under construction and bumpy. Overnight in the teahouse at Syabrubensi.
It is also possible to use private bus/jeep from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. If you query, we can provide private bus or jeep as well.

Day 04: Trek from Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2,450m) 6/7 hours
After breakfast, we begin our trek from Syabru Bensi and reach a police post where you will need to register trekking permit and crosses a suspension bridge over the Bhotekoshi River. Turn right at the eastern end of the bridge and climb through the village of Old syabru to cross a bridge to the south side of Langtang Khola. The trek becomes the pleasant walk through the tree where langur monkeys frolic, passing a bridge a small waterfall bhattis (village inns) beside the stream at Dovan(1680m) the trail then make steep uphill over a rocky ridge to the easily missed junction, where the route from thulo syabru join from over. We pass the long uphill forest, waterfall and couples of the lodge in the pairo meaning of landside; 1800m to Bamboo a cluster hotel at 1930m. Beyond Bamboo, the trail crosses Dangdung Khola then uphill to still suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola. On the north bank of Langtang Khola, the route uphill alongside series of waterfalls and arrive in Changtang famous known as Lama Hotel (2480m) overnight here.

Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430m) 4/5 hours
Today the day starts with a gentle climb, but it soon becomes steeper, climbing through wild forests of hemlocks, oaks, maples and white and pink rhododendrons high above the Langtang Khola. The tantalizing glimpse of snow-capped peaks starts appearing along with the fleeting view of Mt. Langtang Lirung (7244m) through the trees. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela (2992m). The trail ascends gradually as the valley opens up into classical U-shaped glacial. Follow the trail across the helipad and yak pastures, climb briefly through rhododendrons and scattered Tamang villages. The trail crosses a stream and climbs past several water-driven mills and prayer wheels to the large settlement of Langtang (3430m), headquarter of Langtang National Park. The village has flat-roofed Tibetan style house and elaborately carved driven windows of the upper village is worth exploring. Valley is surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields where buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, and barley are planted and easy to find yak and the wild goats wondering around you. Overnight in the teahouse at Langtang village.

Day 06: Trek from Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m) 2/3 hours
On this day it is a gradual climb, past yak pastures and across small streams to reach Kyangjin Gompa. It is a half day and you will reach Kyangjin in time for lunch and have the rest of the day for acclimatization. Enjoy stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains from Kyangjin. There are a monastery and a cheese factory in addition to several lodges. Overnight in the teahouse at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 07: Exploration day, visit Chorkari Ri (5,050m) 7 hours
Today is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and ascend at Chorkari RI (5050 meters) which is the highest point of this trek, directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peak. Overnight in the teahouse at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08: Trek from Kyanjim Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,450m) 6 hours
Today we come back all the way downhill to Lama Hotel. We will see fantastic views of towering mountain what you have missed on the way up. Take more time and you are suggested to walk very slowly. Overnight in a teahouse in Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabru bensi (1,550m) 6/7 hours
Leaving the mountains behind us, our descent takes us to the Sybru Besi where our trek started a week earlier. Overnight in a teahouse in Syabru bensi.

Day 10: Drive from Syabru bensi to Kathmandu 6/7 hours
After breakfast, we drive same way back to Kathmandu which is jumping and bumping. After arriving in Kathmandu, it is the usual practice for clients to invite their guides/porters to share a farewell dinner and exchange a khata (ceremonial scarf) if you have been happy with the service provided by the guide a tip is given. Relive your experiences of the trek around the dinner table and enjoy your last night in Kathmandu. Tomorrow you will fly home. Overnight in the teahouse at Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final departure
Our Langtang trek ends today with your departure. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, our representative will pick you up from the hotel and drop you off at the international airport for your flight home. We hope you enjoyed your trek. Please come back and see us soon.
